I have a cabin in Blue Ridge and my fiance and I stopped in here one day while on our way back from checking out some stores in McCaysville. The store is kind of in the middle of nowhere, but it is a cute little place. The decor is simple, none too fancy, but this place is not about decor...it's about the food. We ordered a couple of Cuban sandwiches, a couple different kinds of Plantain chips, and an order of Rum Cake Bites. The Cubans were very good, but difficult to mess up a Cuban sandwich in my opinion...I can't recall ever having a bad Cuban sandwich at a Cuban restaurant. The plantain chips (these are not made by the store by the way...just chips in a retail bag)...we are not a fan and I don't recommend them...very bland. There were several people in there raving about the homemade pork rinds, and in hindsight, I wish I had tried those instead of the chips. The thing that puts this place over the top is the Rum Cake. It was melt-in-yo-mouth good! I don't know that I would go out of my way for anything else, but the Rum Cake is certainly worth the drive. You HAVE to try it if you are there! We did feel the food was a little overpriced for being in the middle of nowhere. The sandwiches were $7 each and include nothing else...chips were $1.50 for 3 oz., and the rum cakes were $5 for the bites (about 7-8 donut hole sized bites), $15 for a half cake, and $30 for a whole cake. I give it 4.8 stars as is...if the prices came down a bit, I would rate at 5. The rum cake gets a 12.7 out of 5...it's THAT good!
